Kansas Research Nexus is a region rich in research resources and human capital. The region encompasses nine Kansas counties including Shawnee, Osage, Douglas, Jefferson, Jackson, Pottawatomie, Riley, Geary and Wabaunsee and the metropolitan areas of Topeka, Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas, boasting of population of 461, 700.

Kansas Research Nexus is the home of the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and Washburn University, with 63,000 students and 13,500 graduates annually. Ground breaking research from these nationally acclaimed universities include the areas of animal health, human health research in cancer cures, food safety, and biomass and clean technology.
