SECURITY BENEFIT AFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO EXPANDING ITS KANSAS WORKFORCE

SECURITY BENEFIT AFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO EXPANDING ITS KANSAS WORKFORCE

MAY BRING UP TO 55 HIGH-PAYING JOBS TO TOPEKA WITH $673 MILLION ECONOMIC IMPACT

Topeka, KS — Security Benefit, a Topeka-based financial services firm with community roots that extend back to 1892, anticipates adding up to 55 jobs over the next five years with compensation exceeding $100,000. If the organic job growth occurs as anticipated, the company’s workforce expansion is projected to generate an estimated $673 million in economic impact in Topeka over the next decade, according to IMPLAN, an economic impact analysis platform. With a projected return on investment of 48%, this expansion marks a strategic step toward strengthening Topeka’s position as a high-wage employment center for financial services in the region.

To support Security Benefit’s significant investment in the capital city’s financial sector, the Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO) board of Topeka and Shawnee County voted today to approve economic development incentives aimed at accelerating the project’s long-term success along with supplementing financial support from the State of Kansas.

Security Benefit CEO Doug Wolff, a former chair of GO Topeka, said the company is proud of its Kansas heritage and committed to expanding its regional workforce.

“Our company was built on trusting relationships to support families and communities financially and continues to thrive in a competitive industry,” Wolff said. “Organically adding these jobs over the next five years will complement our decades-long investment in the region. Continuing to recruit and retain high-caliber talent for our company will help ensure we have the workforce we need while enhancing quality of life initiatives undertaken through the Greater Topeka Partnership’s Momentum 2027 efforts. We appreciate JEDO and the state for recognizing the importance of granting incentives to existing Kansas companies that are adding jobs alongside new companies relocating to the region.”

“Security Benefit’s expansion is a powerful example of a legacy company continuing to invest in the future of Topeka,” said Stephanie Moran, Interim President of GO Topeka. “Their commitment to growth not only strengthens our local economy but also creates meaningful opportunities for our workforce. We’re proud to support a project that will have lasting impact on our community.”

Security Benefit’s expansion reflects the company’s commitment to the retirement savings market and highlights Topeka’s continued growth in the financial services industry. The collaboration between JEDO, GO Topeka, the State of Kansas, and Security Benefit reflects a shared vision for a vibrant, prosperous future for the region.
