Heinen Brothers Agra Services to expand in Topeka; total economic impact estimated to be $135M

TOPEKA, KANSAS — On December 8, 2021, the Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO) board approved an incentive agreement that will aid in the expansion of Heinen Brothers Agra Services. Heinen Brothers Agra Services uses innovative application methods to offer a full range of agronomic services. Heinen Brothers is also driving the growth of local aviation through superior aircraft maintenance, flight training, aircraft storage, fueling options and service.

Previously referred to as “Project Helix,” this expansion is expected to create up to 20 new jobs with an average wage of $45,000, plus benefits. The total economic impact expected over the next 10 years is $135 million. The performance-based incentive for this project is up to $119,000, resulting in a 324% return on investment.

“We appreciate JEDO’s support and investment, as we are confident it is going to help us advance our operations,” said John Lueger, GIS/contract specialist for Heinen Brothers Agra Services. “Our goal with this investment is to drive business and air-traffic growth at Topeka’s Billard Airport. We feel we can accomplish this through service, superior aircraft maintenance, and fueling options for both permanent and transient aircrafts. We’re excited to see what the future holds.”
